It is generally accepted assumption that every resources cannot be enough. But this is a different issue from what human nature is. No matter what human nature is, if the resource is scare, they compete, which means they want to have the resource more and more until they think it is enough. But since the first assumption is that every resources cannot be enough, they cannot stop competing.
This is the order of the logic. 1. Every resources is limited. 2-a. Human nature is that people want to have every resource endlessly. or 2-b. Human nature is that people want to have every resource until their basic needs are satisfied. ( This basic needs cannot be satisfied, because assumption 1 implies it. But for some resources, such as air, people can feel satisfied. ) 3. People compete.
Whatever we choose between 2-a and 2-b, people compete. It is not because of human nature, but because of the resource.
Some people say that the reason why people compete is human nature. But I don't think their logic is impregnable. It is still controversial whether people has unlimited desire or not. If any philosopher or psychologist has proved it, I want to read the book. But I have never heard it yet.
In other words, if someone want to talk about human nature, they should reconsider the first assumption whether the resource is enough or not in the specific case.
Today, I watched howl's moving castle. I think it means a lot.
First of all, why does Sophie become young sometimes? I think when Sophie spoke true hearted feeling, the curse become weaker. At the beginning part, she does not speak her real feeling about her job. It is also same for her sister who makes fake smiles to customers. I think this criticizes our society making people hide their true feeling.
Secondly, why did howl not die when the contract was canceled? I think this also criticizes the belief that we can control others only by contracts, not by love.
What is the meaning of the moving castle? I think the moving castle stands for nomad. In the moving castle there are a boy, a grand mother, Sophie who cares all of them, Howl who comes back after working outside, and a monster who works for the castle like a slave. I think this combination is like a farmer family. This form degrease and finally all gone in the animation.
Why does Howl fight in war? Howl want to live alone. But the king does not let him alone, and she want to use him. Although Howl tries to hide from her, he sometimes have to help her. I think this reflect that the real world does not let people free. This reminds me of the fact that the more people be productive, the more a nation increase their tax.
Why does howl become a monster after using his magical power? It is because he does what he don't want to do. I think this is also critic in real world people get lose their own feeling when they do what they did not want to do. Literally translating, it criticizes a monster is the solders in any army, but I don't want to restrict the meaning only in war.
Why is the king's castle safe from bombing? Howl said the castle is protected by magic. When a enemy drop a bomb over the castle, it will be moved to its village. It means their magic cannot prevent from bomb but can change its victim. I think this criticizes a nation is built up over the blood of people. Or I think a company is also same.
I also think in the animation there was two totally different types of world; one is full of war, and another is full of peace. It is usually accepted that war in animations stands for capitalism. I think this animation, particularly, criticized the war itself, because the cruelness is so much emphasized.
Why did Howl say "It is too late."? I think it is to wake us up and to make us feel our love now.

When people love each other, they make contract such as boy friend and girl friend relationship, or husband and wife relationship. Actually both of them are all related with marriage or family system. After two persons sign in a marriage contract paper, they share their own property.
This topic is so wide. I cannot cover all of them here. I just want to talk one characteristic of the contract.
Generally people think they need to make a relationship when they love each other. But I doubt it. If the two persons love and trust each other, they don't need a contract. And if the two persons don't love or don't trust any more, they also don't need a contract. If they don't love anymore, why do they not break the contract?
I think that the main functionality of this kind of contracts is only for the case when they don't love each other, but they want to have the other's property. The contract keeps the relationship for property when they don't love each other. Or it enforces people to THINK they love.
My opinion is that love is love, and contract is contract. They should be treated in different perspectives. I think, radically saying, any kind of contracts for human relationship should disappear. But it is too much theoretical; even more than Socialism. I, thus, think at least the power of love should always be stronger than that of contract.
Devotion has got easier these days. I think it means the power for the property contract is getting weaker which is good.
This is a kind of rumor. There is a goods whose name is '맛스타 (star of taste).' It is a quite special beverage. And there are some rumors.
We cannot buy the beverage in usual convenient store. It is only for Solders in Korea Army. Although now we can buy some via Internet, it is exceptional.
When I was in army, our sergeant gave us it, and I had chances to taste it. It was not bad. In addition it was free. Everybody enjoyed it. Since it is offered only for solder, some people regard it as a symbol of solder.Strange thing is that in army usually every thing is insufficient. Even gun is sometimes not enough. The level of dog is higher than human, because dogs are insufficient. People are many but resources are too much insufficient. The number of the beverage, however, was always higher than that of people. So some people was able to have two or more.
And we need to pay for any goods even in army. But the beverage was free. And at least one time a week we got it.
The rumor is that some people suspect maybe the beverage controls the hormone of solders. Usually solders in Korea were not so much educated, because it is mandatory for everybody. It is usual that if many male be gathered, they talk about women often. Actually it is well known fact that culture in army is so lusty and most of them are male oriented. It is hard to control. Some people illegally go out of army camp at night to meet a prostitution. Or some times some of them commit serious sexual crime.
I'm that kind of person who believes that any sexual thing or problem are strongly related with hormone things, rather than mental things. I think it is one reasonable rumor that maybe army can consider that kind of therapy to control any kind of sexual problems. Furthermore it is not only my idea, but also many people suspect it.
Today I finished two projects. They tortured me for 2 months. It was nightmare, but now it's finished.
Today I presented in my class. It was a big challenge for me and great experience. I explained my English is not so good, and this is my first presentation in English before I start it. Everybody encouraged me.
After my presentation, professor asked me some questions. But I could not understand well. First time two members of my team helped me. And for the second question, many students who are not my team helped me. All of them are so smart. They so quickly understood, reading my just two power point slides which the professor could not understand. I surprised in two meaning; One is how smart they are!, and second is how kind they are!
I need to practice more how to do presentation in English. Today, however, it is not so bad, considering the fact that it was my first presentation. Despite the fact that my program did not work perfectly, my teammates didn't care it and thanked me.
I appriciate to my teammates, and classmates. Most of all, I thank my friend of mind who helped me whole day to let me use English.

Death is nothing.
3 days ago, my landlord died in his room. He was my roommate. We didn't know he died there, so I think we slept at least one day with a body. It's scary.
Wednesday night, his family came, and they found he was death. At the time, I opened the front door, because they didn't have a key. After I know he died, I could not stop shaking. His ant cried.
The day, I saw two CSI, and I talked with many policeman. I think it was not bad. They didn't suspect me or his family at all, because they believe he died due to overdose of cocaine.
I was not so close to my landlord, so I didn't feel sad. I, however, cannot stop thinking about him. It is not because he died, but because the death itself give me deep impression.
After he died, many policeman came, and they investigated his room. 2 hours later, all of them went out. That's it. Nothing has happened any more. I think it is weird. Because a death should be special. But actually it is not. Nobody cares. How sad it is. I think I'm sad in that reason.
Maybe I can die one day accidentally, and I'm sure nobody would remember me. Some of my friends might be sad one week or two weeks. But what does it mean? Nothing.
I think ironically only love is able to make the death special. It is because if we hate someone, we would not miss him.

There are many problems in our real society.
Suddenly, however, I though why am I so eager to criticize it, why do I not try to find good thing which maybe the world has. It should be seriously considered. But I found a little bit funny fact that if nothing is wrong, how could we know it.
One day my friend said that the term, 'equality', is stupid, because if everybody is already equal, maybe we don't have the word, 'equality.' It means the meaning of equality is paradoxically based on the meaning of inequality. Furthermore, I sometimes feel that I need more words to explain what I need; justice, freedom, fairness, or peace. They are not enough, because we are still close to these words.

I cannot find any significant difference between labor and slave.
Once I have tried to figure out how the history books explain the problem of the slavery. When I was in Korean, I went to book shop and I skimmed about 10 books. They usually uses the concept of The Human Rights. They said the problem of the slavery system is the master exploits their slaves too much. But it is hard to explain how much is too much, so that they use the concept of the Human Rights; For example, the problem of the slavery system is the slaves cannot have the Human Rights.
Considering the fact that the slavery is abolished after the American civil war in 1861, the concept of the Human Rights has been established after the slavery has already disappeared, 1948. It is hard to say when the concept of the Human Rights had fixed. I think at least it cannot be before 1789 when the French revolution occurred. I believe that although somebody can find any evidence that there was mere current for the abolishment before the slavery disappeared, it would not be hard to find any evidence that the concept of the Human Rights is quite new.
My point is that actually using the Human Rights to explain the problem of the slavery system does not make sense. If we can criticize any society using a concept which will be developed in future, we can also criticize capitalism using any concept which we don't know yet.
In brief, what is the problem of the slavery system? We can easily find the wage slavery or the contract slavery is almost similar with the wage labor. I believe that if somebody who thinks the slavery is bad thinks the capitalism is good, his thinking is inconsistent.

I have took a trip with three economists to New York. And we talked many things.
I think the economists treat the economics as neutral. For example, they implicitly change the definition of profit when they talk about two different situations such as family and company. When they talk about family, the profit includes their happiness. But when they talk about company, the profit excludes the concept of happiness or the meaning of happiness changes. My point is that if the economics and the concept of profit can be separated, I have no complain for economics. I mean economics can be right when the definition of profit is right.
I can find an analogy for this point in physics. When scientists explorer the filed of nuclear, people made nuclear weapon. Some scientists said science is neutral, and people have to equip the wisdom and responsibility for the power. I think maybe some people who suffered the radioactivity from nuclear weapon or nuclear plant will hate the science itself. It is similar with the case that people who suffered the depressed economic environment really hate the economics itself. But science or economics maybe neutral.
I think if somebody want to improve the economic problems in real world, the question which is too abstract to discuss should be what the company should pursuit. And economics cannot give the answer. Furthermore, I think we cannot even recognize that there is problems, because they consider the problems as given constraints.
Albert Einstein who is famous for the formula, E=MC^2, left similar opinion in the famous article "Why Socialism?". One visitor for him said "Why are you so deeply opposed to the disappearance of the human race?" This question is similar with the question, "Why are you so deeply opposed to the death of the homeless?" I think it is not irrational. It is rational. Maybe science or economics is perfect enough. Somebody who considers only whether science or economics has any problem or not can have these kind of questions, because they does not show up any problems.

I bought a car.
It is 1999, Honda Civic, and used one. Here is its picture:
Its mileage is not low, 102k. But it looks almost new one. I like it. In addition, it was reasonable price.
Wayne, who is my new native friend, helped me. Actually what I did is nothing. He found this car through Internet, and checked many things such as Engine noise, regulator, oil parts, tires, air filter, heater noise, wiper blades, electronic cables, radio system, lights, and so on. I thank him so much.

Teacher's authority.
In Korea, there is a old saying, 君師父一體, which means king, parent and teacher are same. The concept came from Confucianism. During Korea government was ruled by military dictators,1961~1993, it was quite strongly emphasized. Everybody can guess the reason. They exploited the old concept to make their political power stronger.
The concept is based on the hierarchy, which means everybody is belong to their king as well as they are belong to their parent. The relationship between parent and son is inherited by genetic system. But the relationship between king and everybody is made by the concept. And it is utilized by many eastern kingdoms in history regardless the Confucius's original motive.
What I want to say is that the concept made an illusion that there is a relationship between nation and people and we have to obey the authority of nation. It is meaningless separating nation from ourself. They are same. It is a kind of idolatry, like separating God from ourselves. In addition, the position of teacher is quite interesting. Because I can find old eastern education and recent western education are in common. In history, western education system developed in order to let people adapt modern society such as factory systems. Before the modern society, for example, a farmer did not need to work in schedule or did not need to work together. And they did not need to seat on a chair for 9 hours a day. The modern education system which has a class, many students, one president of students, and one teacher who has strong authority is designed following factory system which has one working place, many workers, one president of union, and one director who has strong authority. The school system designed to make student adapt factory system easily, replacing a class to factory, replacing teacher to employer. And thereby obeying teacher plays quite serious role in modern education system.
Considering western modern education system, we can find common in the old saying. The obeying to king is beautified, in the name of teacher.
I don't think there could be a reason we have to give teachers authority. I guess the Confucius's original meaning is that we must be close to king and teacher as well as to parent, and it is not about authority. I think his saying is polluted by many people who can get benefits. Unfortunately I don't think we can find his original theory.

Today, I found an amazing software library. This is about Java Swing UI which is represented by XML. It means that we can design Application Swing UI, editing XML file not editing Java source code. SwinXML : http://www.swixml.org
The reason why this is amazing is that the XML tag format is so simple and easy to use and easy to read. So that on the software developing process, I think this technique will play a significant role to separate the designers tasks from the programmers tasks.
I spent one whole year to develop like this system in NC soft in order to develop game user interface. I have been proud of myself for developing the system. And now I found something which is similar with what I developed. When I develop it, it was so hard to get some information or referable examples.
I think this library is too much rely on Java Swing, so that I don't think I can extend unique customer components which is very important in game user interface. But the basic concept is still useful in developing game software. I think if we use this program, the game designer can see the game user interface appearance with Swing components before the game programmer make the user interface engine, because the XML file would be compatible.
And the tag document is so good and particularly 'id' tag and 'action' tag is almost in the peak of these kind of technology. I'm not sure whether we can use this id and action linking technique in the same way in C++.
*PS: First installing was not easy. I spent quite long time.. ;-( *PS: I know that there are many XML-to-Swing converters, but I think this is most simple.

One month ago, I joined in a student activity, whose name is 'game analysis and discussion'. And Yesterday I got a email from them. It was a kind of announcement about Lan-Party.
Today I stopped by there, and I met some guys and I saw the Halo3 playing screen, which is very famous game in X-Box. And I also could see one guy who is working for Microsoft.
The most important part is that I could meet and talk with one guy, who made a game and tries to establish a company. His name is Steve. When I saw him fist time, I did not recognize him. But in few minutes I though his face is familiar, and I came up with the fact that I saw him in GMU main web site. He was the very guy.

Today I saw few music video of F.I.R which is a quite famous pop-group in China. I have known about what the YouTube is. But I suddenly got a question how YouTube can be sustained, how they make money? I cannot find any advertisement banner. Even though I use it a few hours, it would not stop me - actually it will take not my money but my time. Basic idea is simple. If we can see many movies without charging, people will use it. It is how the YouTube became so popular. But it is hard to maintain the huge movie data without charging. If it was so easy, everybody could start the service. I cannot find the secret of YouTube.

Last Sat. I went to Washington D.C, and I took a canoe. I meet my American friends, and they did not mind my language shortcoming. I really want to mention this. They tough how to sound 'Z' - like Zoo. When I sound Zoo, it was almost like 'Jew'. They helped me fix it. I hope to see them again.

One of my favorite programs is NetFolder. It is a file downloading service. For the reason that the service is serviced by Korean company, it is too slow in U.S.A. But I use it because it is free and I can get many commercial programs. Although it is so slow, I don't care much, because I can keep my computer turning on whole day.

One thing that I really hate is that if I download 500M with netfolder application, I have to restart the program, because it is the limitation for free users. I, therefore, came up with a idea to make a program which restarts it automatically. It is not so hard. Basically, if I use Hooking technique I think I can make the program in at most 5 hours.
These days, I'm so busy, so that I have to postpone it... Instead, I tried to find a program to do same thing. But unbelievably I could not find it. Even though I could find similar programs such as auto-mouse, since they don't use the Hooking, the clicking coordination was not accurate. If NetFolder program shows a pop-up window at different coordination, they cannot click the button on the pop-up windows. In order to find the accurate coordination they had have to use Hooking, but they did not. I cannot understand why they do not try it. For these reasons, I think I have to make it by myself.

Today I knew the fact that I cannot improve my English only by reading my major books. There are some reasons. One of them is that in major books I cannot see the questioning sentences. And many English tests such as TOFLE, TOEIC and GRE do not deal the questioning sentences. But it is not so easy and when we meet a new person, we have to ask many things. It is obvious that I cannot improve how I can ask by reading text books. Second of the reasons is that in major book the subject be never 'I' or 'you'. But in daily conversation, we always use them. Third of them is that in major book all sentences use present tense. But in dialog we have to care the tense.
I, subsequently, found that I have to schedule to study English. I don't think that my English will be autonomously better only if I live in U.S.A. And I think I need some materials such as English conversation. When I took some conversation classes in Korea, I though that those classes are useless and are wasting of money. But now I changed my mind. It is really necessary.

Mac and Java.
I bought Mac Book black. And I am used to this box. I like that I can use Unix-like environments.
But I think somebody who insist MacOS is more powerful than Windows are wrong. The fact that Windows can run on Mac Hardwares does not represent that Mac is powerful. But, it proves that Windows is powerful. The flexibility of Windows is amazing. Otherwise, MacOS cannot be installed on any other IBM compatible PC expect Mac Hardwares.
I, sometimes, experienced that when I plug-in my external HDD MacOS cannot detect it. Although I don't know the reason exactly, I think it is the problem of MacOS or Mac Kernel. Becuase when I'm using Windows on my MacBook, Windows has never failed to detect it.
I like MacBook and MacOS because I can use Windows, MacOS, and Unix-like Environment - I can use even PORTS like FreeBSD. But what I feel uncomfortable is that Mac has duplicated system data; One for MacOS Environment, and another for Unix-like Environment; One for Windows on BootCamp, and another for Windows on Parellels Desktop.
Java. Since I was a game programmer, I like C++ very much. Whenever I made a program with C++, I was always exciting. But in my graduate school, people love Java more. I regard them, but I think they too much worship Java, blaming C, not C++. It is unfair to compare Java with C. Because C is not OOP language. They have to compare Java with C++, not C.
Yesterday, I knew Java has template meta-programming-like syntax after version 1.5 as well as C++ has. I'm interesting in it. I'll more dig out.
Today, I was so embarrassed.
It is usual that we do group project in a given period. Two of my classes require me to do group project. It is natural, because my major is software engineering, and it is important to do project togather.
But I was so afraid to talk with my classmates because my english is not still good, and so far I have never tried to talk with my classmates yet. Professor just told us that when you, students, made groups, tell me. Students can talk with each other well in a break time or before the class, but I cannot.
Today I pushed myself, and tried to talk to one of my classmates. But unfortunatly the distance between me and him was so far. Furthermore my voice was so quite. Finally I could not say anything. I said a same sentance 4 times. And I gave up, saing 'never mind' rudely. I almost wanted to cry. In the small class, many students heard what I said. And when I said the same sentance 4 times, I knew that what I'm saying is grammetically wrong. That is why I was so embarrassed today.
I'm doing my best, but I cannot predict the end yet.
